The two top chefs Björn Freitag and Frank Buchholz

Top chefs Björn Freitag and Frank Buchholz set out on a culinary journey on a houseboat through the West. Their motto: slow down, discover, savour. Away from the daily grind to discover our beautiful homeland. Their passion for regional cuisine and good food is invariably on board.

100% local – 100% delicious: on their summer tour of the rivers and canals of their homeland, the two celebrity chefs repeatedly drop anchor and go ashore to find the best ingredients for refined summer dishes. They are interested in anything that is home-grown or home-made. Their motto is “100% local” – they are convinced that there are many culinary treasures right on their doorstep, just waiting to be discovered.

Travelling on e-bikes, the two top chefs collect the hand-picked ingredients for their summer menu from farms, allotments and small manufactories.

The two chefs have been friends for many years. In 1999, they co-founded the cooking club “Junge Wilde”, rebelling against “haute cuisine”. They value plain, down-to-earth cooking. Both grew up in the Ruhr area: Björn in Dorsten, near the Wesel-Datteln Canal, and Frank in Waltrop, near the Dortmunder-Ems Canal.

megaherz has been producing Lecker an Bord since 2017. It is one of WDR’s (West German Broadcasting Corporation) most popular formats.
